Origin: Madagascar, Mahajanga Province, Sofia Region, Analalava District
This exquisite and rare stone is only known from two localities in Madagascar. It is multi-coloured with attractive orbicular patterns. Although called a Jasper, the stone is actually a mixture of different forms of Quartz: clear and coloured varieties of Chalcedony, banded Agate, and pockets of tiny Quartz crystals called druzy, coloured by the colour of the matrix.
The photos were taken in bright sunlight to bring out their best colours.
