Copal is not a true fossil and is the intermediate form, from tree resin to Amber. Copal is not as old as amber and can be anything between 100 and a few million years old. Scientifically, it is a hardened tree resin that has partially gone through the polymerization process, but is not fully polymerized like Amber.
These from Madagascar is said to come from the Amber Pine and is approximately 1,000 - 10,000 years old.
These pieces are much more yellow to amber coloured as can be seen in the last photo.
The photos were taken in bright sunlight to bring out their best colours.
